The third day of London Fashion Week was opened by Betty Jackson with a fresh collection of marble prints, sheer socks and painterly florals. Close friend Jennifer Saunders sat pride of place in front row, joined by Stephen Jones, Tracey Emin, Melanie Blatt, Jimmy Choo, and Jasper Conran.
Soft, sweet and little bit saucy was the message derived from Betty Jackson’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection. She was inspired by the idea of a French young lady being filmed by Jean-Luc Goddard in Shanghai, leading to a lot of ooh-la-la and some extremely wearable clothes.
Pink florals with a brown base opened the show with bib style ruffled blouses, with pastel colored sheer socks, cute silk shorts and night robe style tunics. Prints ranged from a monochrome marble to watery silk florals in pastels and nudes, contrasted with an updated Breton stripe in black and gold. Eighties accent was still there in Jackson’s spring collection.

Frills, ruffles and flounces were a key detail whether worn as a ruff, sparkling with crystals at neck, decorating a peplum jacket or trimming hem of a jacket or skirt. The boudoir theme echoed in little floral sundresses with draped hips, showed a frill of purple lace at décolletage.

The color palettes, prints and optimism of whole show provided a freshness and excitement for coming Spring.
