Marc Jacobs seems to be on mission to keep the funky outfits in fashion. For his Marc by Marc Jacobs line there were bright, mismatching colors, clashing prints, or color-block jumpsuits in emerald green and a prom dress in peacock blue.
All topped off with enormous Fergie bows on heads for a distinct touch of the 80s. His spring 2010 ready-to-wear collection at New York’s fashion week brought somewhat jarringly bright colors and patterns to runway, impressing many and surprising some.

In response to prevalence of today’s young girls often sporting black and studs, Jacobs retorted, “It’s not such an individual expression.” Mis-matched prints, shimmering lame, and jumper pants in full-drive, screamed Jacobs’s sentiment loudly throughout the runway show. Yet putting individual fashion expressions aside, Jacobs’s collection is undoubtedly fun for spring.

There were bright florals, checks, spots and geometrics; army-style, low-top sneakers; and glitter-striped stretch belts cinching the waists of everything from short prom-frocks in multi-colored prints and loose jumpsuits in bright yellow and green satin, to red plaid trench-coats and cheetah-print.
Sweat-pants were worn with braces while striped blazers with faded denim shorts. A handful of colored beads, tribal-look rucksacks, skeleton necklaces and a clutch of ethnic-stripe totes, and boxing boots embellished with lots of strap. The collection was “On the Marc”.

In the more salable category were button-front shirts cinched with satin bustiers, pinstripe blazers and trousers edged in ruffles, and cardigans trimmed in frills.
