VMA icon Madonna opened the show and introduced emotional and heartfelt tribute to Michael Jackson. The Material Girl was covered up in an all-encompassing black coat and knee-high-boots from the front. But in true Madge form, she was actually dressing her age with a corset and bum-flashing pants.

Despite having her on-stage moment ruined by Kanye West, the hip hop rapper, Taylor Swift looked the picture of elegance at MTV Video Music Awards in an ethereal asymmetric gown by Kaufman Franco. A ruby red pout and chic updo were perfect finishing touches adding more to her glam.

Singers Shakira and Pink were seen wearing the same sparkling Balmain strapless studded leather dress when making their way to the event’s red carpet. Shakira combined her dress with a pair of thigh-high boots, a black clutch and a matching bracelet. And Pink kept her appearance simple, combining her dress with a pair of black patent heels, long earrings, a bracelet, and rings.

Heart throbbing Chace Crawford was one of the highlights of this night. Oh! He really got the style, looked great and presented like a pro. Love the dimples on his face!!

The leather look is hot for fall/winter ‘09, and the trend quickly jumped to Nicky Hilton as well. Rocking a miniscule bandeau dress and studded heels, the heiress worked biker chic at award function.
