Gucci launches new Eyewear Collection for Spring/Summer 2010
Italian fashion house Gucci launched a new collection of eyewear for younger generation called Gucci Eyeweb. The new sunglasses collection is designed by Creative Director Frida Giannini which is showcased on an innovative mini-site, guccieyeweb.com. Site allows users to view sunglasses in 3D using a 90 degree rotating system, to examine the eye-candy and see reflections of friends in lenses by uploading their own images.

Frida Giannini, who was named fashion designer of the year at Glamour’s Women of the Year awards in June, has combined quality of sunglasses with iconic designs and styles. The result comes out in two styles of frames available in six different colors, with further three designs being added to the collection for S/S10. The range is produced under license by Safilo and will be launched in early spring.
Giannini said that she designed these sunglasses and the accompanying social networking site keeping today’s digital generation in mind. She hopes that it will be a fun wearing them and ‘reflecting and connecting’ own creativity with friends around the world.
Eyeweb sunglasses will retail for £135 and will be available at Gucci stores worldwide, online boutique gucci.com and at selected retail distribution global networks.
