Tom Ford finally has confirmed that he’ll be launching his womens wear collection very soon. Ford, the former creative director for Gucci, said that he and his business partner Domenico de Sole were currently on lookout for financing. But that new line was likely to launch next fall.

De Sole wouldn’t say how much they’re seeking, but it’s said to be around $50 million. Ford added that once he gets the money, he’ll need 18 months to get the line off the ground so he can find factories and get stores ready for it.
Ford said, though expensive, his brand has performed well because its craftsmanship and quality still speak to customers, even in tough economic times. He added that his customers has been a little bit insulated, meaning they’ve lost money like everyone else. But they’re still in a much better position than others. They might not be buying a new apartment or new painting, but they’re still buying clothes.
Ford is currently promoting his first movie, fashion-unrelated “A Single Man”, in Tokyo. His first store in the city, also just opened last month, which is a shop-in-shop at department store Isetan.
