Phoebe Philo has yet again made a come back with even more directness and focus at Celine. With a group of fast-marching models in military details and lots of leather dresses, sight was lavish. The mood set by the collection was purposeful and positive.
Phoebe Philo has always designed clothes that reflect fashion as it’s really lived, rather than anything arty or conceptual. It was a great fashion feast for the eyes with whipcord-trimmed skirts, fine leather tees, piqué shirting over-the-head cross-laced dresses, and modified military jackets. This very wearable collection comprised of rich yet subtle colors, something anyone who travels for business will appreciate.

Making an extravagant beginning with shiny jersey T-shirt dress with a cropped leather vest over the top, show went through Hessian skirts, wide legged trousers with hems of black leather and white cotton collarless shirts. Super-flattering cut of high-waist, wide-leg pant and wedge sandal made every single look work. It was clear amalgamation of graphic and hard hitting designs which were really stylish.
Entirely different from everyone’s expectations and other shows, it was refreshing and full of energy. Sleeveless trench coat dresses with missing panels at the back and skin nude jersey bodies that morphed into silk high-waisted trousers or skirts below were ravishing. Cool military jackets that came short at the back and longer in front over leather minis of jade or brown were eye catchy.
There was an organic modernity to collection with lot of tones and texture for looks that appeared in several shades or contrasting fabrics of same color. Bow-necked white silk blouses and a touch of glitter on shoulders adding softness and drama to the show.
Phoebe Philo has worked beautifully in her first collection for Celine which is quite clear from the soft sophistication she has brought through leather. Celine’s collection is like a breath of fresh air for Spring/Summer 2010.
