On Friday night, biggest celebrities from music, film, sports and even politics join together for ‘Hope For Haiti Now: A Global Benefit For Earthquake Relief’ which is an international, multi-network telethon. International ‘Hope For Haiti Now’ telethon featured two hours of desperate plea for an even more-desperate nation.

It started with mournful tunes but ended with the slow song “Rivers of Babylon’ by Wyclef Jean who sang with a Haitian flag around his neck. Singing the refrain: “Earthquake, we see the earth shake, but the soul of the Haitian people will never break!” made a buoyant call for Haiti’s revival.
Celebrity phone bank was continuously busy with donation calls as stars like Mel Gibson, Reese Witherspoon and Julia Roberts manned telephone lines. There was endless list of celebrities who joined Hope for Haiti Now telethon. Anderson Cooper gave reports about the situation directly from Haiti. Most of the musical performances in Hope for Haiti Now telethon organized by George Clooney were downbeat, emotional songs.
The telethon was streamed live on sites like YouTube, MySpace and was broad casted from New York, London, Los Angeles and Haiti, and was featured on all the major networks and channels.
Main feature of the telethon was that it was broad casted on Radio One Haiti to make Haitians able to listen it. People were able to start donating even before the telethon at a newly established Web site, and also through text or telephone. Viewers can also purchase performances from Saturday onwards for just 99 cents by way of iTunes that will also go into relief aid as well.
It was a divine gesture, that started with simply photos of Haiti’s tragic citizens as a backdrop and ended with desperate pleas for Haitian.
