Victoria Beckham, the Spicy Girl-turned-designer, launched her fourth collection, at New York Fashion Week Fall 2010. Inspired by American comic detective, Dick Tracy, and contemporary dance pioneer, Martha Graham, this collection retained details of Mrs Beckham’s fashion signature, such as spine-tingling, gold zips from nape to knee, the inbuilt corsetry, and grosgrain ribbon belts. The collection was full of classic VB’s to red carpet gowns to cocktail dresses.

The collection was an accomplished and intriguing mix of fluid draping; intense, cartoon colors like emerald and violet; and trench-coat style, which echoed garb of fast-shooting, hard-talking police detective.
There was a departure from hourglass-silhouette to a softer and looser shapes, expressed in asymmetric, slide-off-shoulder necklines, cowled bodices, and draped skirts. They all were in jewel-bright shades, worn with matching platforms. Victoria Beckham Fall 2010 collection expressed her own personal style – more relaxed, a little more slouchy, but still structured.

Among top looks were eye-catching, form-fitting dresses in popping hues of deep red, sapphire blue and emerald green; double-sided antique gold metallic corset dress with three kinds of gold threads; and a lightweight gazar column with reinterpreted newspaper print. Other standouts were a sleeveless number to which she called a black orchid dress and another sleeveless tan, hand-pinned gazar dress.
Sky-high pumps created by Brian Atwood, specifically for the collection was looking really awesome. And how can we forget those popular signature of Mrs Beckham- super-sized chic Victoria Beckham sunglasses. They raised up fab-factor of every dress they were worn with.

Particularly effective among the collection were a long, trench coat dress, in gold lame-chiffon, inspired by Dick Tracy’s trench-coat, with a split to thigh. She remarked a flowing, strapless gown in sapphire double-crepe, as ”her sexiest dress yet”. But the dress she has decided to wear to the Academy Awards was a buff-colored, one-shouldered, draped silk jersey gown with a grosgrain ribbon sashed around asymmetrical bodice, which captured fluidity of contemporary dance.
Beckham really wants to flourish herself as a fashion designer, she told in an interview. Her dream, she said, would be to open her own store, ”perhaps in coming five years.” She was proud of this season’s offering as she learned how to play with drape. And why not! All the dresses were so good, that it was hard to choose best one. Hats off to the Hard Work she did. Mission accomplished!!
