Michael Jackson’s luxury furniture to be auctioned in June
Michael Jackson’s custom-made furniture commissioned to fill his London home during his “This Is It Tour” is set to go up on auction on June 25, one year after the music legend’s death. Comprised of 22 exotic pieces, the collection includes a red velvet sofa that seats nine, and a leopard print chair trimmed with ostrich feathers. This collection of handmade pieces by Italy’s Colombostile Artisans will be sold by Julien’s Auction auctions at Planet Hollywood.

Collection includes several armchairs upholstered in platinum-gold leaf or mother of pearl (estimated at $18,500) and two with gold double-headed eagle embroidery ($60,000). It also includes a 17th century style ebonized wood writing desk with mother of pearl inlay ($120,000) and a Baroque red velvet and gilt sofa with stone inlay and 24 carat gold ($150,000).

The auction will also feature 200 items from Jackson’s life and career, including a signed red “Beat It” jacket (estimated at 8,000-12,000 dollars), Jackson’s white Swarovski Crystal Glove ($30,000) and signed “Bad” Lyrics (2,000-4,000 dollars). The auction house, known for its sale of celebrity memorabilia, also sold Jackson’s famous glittery glove, worn on night he debuted moonwalk during Motown 25th Anniversary Special in 1983.

Prior to the items going under hammer for sale, a recreation of living room can be viewed by public at Newbridge Silverware Museum of Style Icons in Ireland from March 16 to May 30 then at Planet Hollywood on June 14 through June 25. A percentage of sales from the auction will benefit MusiCares, which provides medical, financial and personal emergencies for musicians in needs; and Joshua Heart, which works to end world hunger.
These exquisite furniture pieces were not even delivered to him, and he died before that, adding up to tragedy. If you have the money and cash, and are a fan of this legendary pop star and artisans craft, then you can’t miss this auction! Afterall, there is nothing better than bringing home a little fame and limelight!
