Sabyasachi Collection at Lakme Fashion Week 2010 was awesome. It was a kind of global fashion tour from Africa to Paris. A very wearable, mix and match, ethnic yet contemporary collection was presented at venue that was dazzling with tiny fairy light streamers from the ceiling.

Sabyasachi Summer/Resort 2010 Collection was inspired from Sudan and Ghana for an African look. Hues of African continent, the American inspirations and Parisian touches was visible in whole collection which was a feast of fabrics, patterns, embellishments and simple elegant silhouettes. It was very different from Rocky S Bridal Collection.

There were elasticized skirts and long line tees, trench coats, wrap jackets, loose pants, tight churidars, shimmering long tubes, printed tunics, asymmetric waistcoats, blouses with multi prints all over. Color palette was mute, comprising of shades of ivory, brown, teal, rust, and indigo with little splash of orange and large doses of gold and silver embroidery.

Highlights of show were sexy Charleston dresses over printed trousers and sheer skirts, representing sheer fashion, lavishly embellished with beads and glitter. There was everything in collection one can ask for, like trousers, skirts, blouses, jackets and scarves in a mix of fabrics such as chiffon, georgette, khadi, cotton, lace and silk.
Models were posing an Afro/Parisian look with the bandana wrapped heads. Sabyasachi Mukherjee summer 2010 collection was very wearable, diverse and stylish.
