New York Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2011 kicked off with a bang on Thursday Sep 9, 2010. With this, it marked starting of major international Fashion Weeks as New York Fashion Week is the first of the big four to take place, followed by London, Milan and Paris. NYFW is celebrated twice an year as it opens doors for designers to flaunt their creation for Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer seasons.
For the first time, New York Fashion Week is taking place in Tents set up in Damrosch Park within the Lincoln Center. Before this, Fashion Week always took place in Bryant Park, near Times Square. This 8 days long fashion extravaganza that will run from Sep 9 to 16 will flaunt designer creations for Spring/Summer 2011 season by biggest designer names including Diane von Furstenberg, Zac Posen, Tommy Hilfiger, Carolina Herrera and Vera Wang.

Christian Siriano Spring 2011 Fashion Show

Project Runway winner Christian Siriano’s fifth collection was dramatic. Christian Siriano NYFW Spring 2011 show started with a model stepping on runway in caramel-colored safari jacket teamed with white trousers. It was followed by safari suit, cocktail dresses, gowns and lots more. Finale gown that was in bright-red color adorned with roses was magical.
Project Runway

10 remaining contestants of Project Runway Season 8 flaunted their creations in front of big names that included guest judge Jessica Simpson, Heidi Klum, Michael Kors and Nina Garcia. Heidi Klum opened the show promising audience that they’d see color and fantasy on catwalk. Project Runway New York Fashion Week Spring 2011 runway witnessed many exquisite designs from 10 upcoming designers. 10 designers participated in fashion show to avoid disclosure of designers’ names who have made it to final three spots.
Richard Chai Love Spring 2011 Fashion Show

Richard Chai NYFW Spring 2011 show was based on nudes, grays, and blues color palette. Instead of multicolored prints and bright colors, Richard Chai women’s collection for Spring Summer 2011 was based on minimalism. It was a very wearable collection that included dresses in different fabrics. Sheer fabric, silky running shorts and trouser legs were prominent.
Vena Cava Spring 2011 Fashion Show

Designers Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock, took cue from ’80s Memphis design movement for Vena Cava NYFW Spring 2011 show. Color hues that were prominent on runway included black, red, aquamarine green, rust and bright yellow. Styles flaunted on runway included linen shorts suits, ankle-skimming shirtdresses and lots more.
