Project Runway Season 8 finale show at New York Fashion Week Spring 2011 gave 10 budding designers a chance to showcase their designs in front of whole world on one of the biggest platform which is New York Fashion Week Runway.
Collection by 10 Project Runway Season 8 designers were showed off at New York Fashion Week Spring 2011 as only seven “Runway” episodes have aired till now, and mystery about three finalists who will be competing on Oct. 28 show has to be kept. Clad in shimmering silver dress, Guest judge Jessica Simpson joined Project Runway Season 8 jury; Heidi Klum, Michael Kors, Nina Garcia at NYFW Spring 2011 Show.
Eighth season of Project Runway went on air, July 29, 2010 with 17 upcoming designers, competing to become Project Runway Season 8 winner and receive $100,000 from L’Oréal Paris, a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine, HP and Intel’s $50,000 technology suite and lots more.
Project Runway Season 8 Final 10 designers includes Andy South, Ivy Higa, Micheal Costello, Michael Drummond, April Johnson, Casanova, Christopher Collins, Gretchen Jones, Mondo Guerra, and Valerie Mayen. Out of these, only three designers are still in the running to become Project Runway Season 8 Winner.
Here’s an insight into Project Runway Season 8 Finale Show Designers at NYFW 2011 and their creation one by one:
Michael Drummond

Project Runway Season 8 NYFW Spring 2011 show started as one of Project Runway Season 8 contestants, Michael Drummond showed off his collection which was edgy and sophisticated at the same time. His collection was inspired by X-rays and Mark Rothko. Models stepped on runway in dresses and knitwear in gray hues finished with odd metallic flash.
Valerie Mayen

After Michael Drummond, it was turn of Valerie Mayen from Cleveland who compared her collection with love child of Rainbow Brite and David Bowie. She said “Being Guatemalan I love color”. It was a fun-filled and wearable collection that included vests in red, orange, blue and purple and adorable dresses.
Christopher Collins

Then was the turn of Christopher Collins who described his collection as being “about roots, race, and romance.” Lot of styles like black-and-white print dress, metallic dresses and lace romper were flaunted.
Casanova

Casanova’s Fashion show started off with model stepping on runway in a belly shirt teamed with tight satin pants. Each model was wearing gold face paint and sparkling pieces on pants.
Ivy Higa

Ivy Higa from Hawaii was fifth contestant to go. Her creation was inspired by her favorite beach in Hawaii. There were dresses in white and pale blue with bright pops of yellow. Every look was paired with two-layer sunhats.
Michael Costello

Michael Costello from Palm Springs went sixth. His collection was inspired by his friend Sunny Lopez in which brown hues were prominent.
Gretchen Jones

Gretchen Jones’s collection was called “Running Through Thunder.” Two-time challenge winner and controversial contestant Gretchen came wearing a see-through skirt paired with booty shorts. It was a great collection that featured African prints and chevron-shaped necklaces
Mondo Guerra

Mondo Guerra from Denver dedicated the collection to his grandmother and spiritual guide and got biggest applause of the show. It was super-stylized collection that flaunted wild prints, bedazzled t-shirts, patterned shorts and rompers and colorful headgear.
April Johnston

Next was turn of April Johnston whose collection was inspired by the image of “dusty dolls going to a tea party and being washed away.” Models came wearing head wraps. Designs flaunted included gown, straight jacket and lots more.
Andy South

Rounding off the show was Andy South whose models came out wearing gold head pieces and dresses in hues of metallics and acid green.
