Paris Fashion Week Fall 2011 kicked off with Thierry Mugler menswear show and Lady Gaga’s tunes. Anticipation about Mugler Fall 2011 Menswear Show had become manifold as it was the debut collection for the new creative director, Nicola Formichetti and Lady Gaga’s presence at the show was also expected.

Lady Gaga was not seen at the show but she was definitely heard as her new soundtrack was played during the show marking the “Rebirth of the Label“. In show notes, Lady Gaga was mentioned as the ‘musical director of this menswear project’. Rebirth means now clothing collections will be known simply as “Mugler” along with a new logo.

Talking about Mugler Fall 2011 Mens Collection, created by Formichetti and Romain Kremer, it opened with stomping parade of boys with their hair matted with grease and oil and faces plastered with latex.
Models were donning wide and padded trousers, that were nearly skintight in the seat and voluminous in the leg, some were padded at the ankles. Mugler Fall 2011 jackets and tops revealing the mens’ bellies were also attention grabbing. It ranged from ropped cutaway length to mid-calf, some were unbelted while other were belted or nipped in at the waist.

Looks with mirrored breastplate, black latex gloves and nightshirt-like tops were also interesting. Nice play of different fabrics was seen in nylon puffer jacket from neck to torso adorned with a zip-off neoprene part the rest of the way to the hip.

Tattoos, masks and make-up served as the cherry on the cake while the skeleton-tattooed model named Rick Genest jsut stole the show. Color palette was also interesting. From bright oranges, dark navy blues to black and white and some neutral tones of gray, tan and brown, every hue was there.

Rounding off the show were models stepping on runway in some kind of transparent veils over their heads that looked scary, crazy and interesting at the same time.
