Amid the growing controversy, rumors, tight security and a heavy police presence, Christian Dior Fall 2011 Collection was presented on Friday during Paris Fashion Week. Absence of British designer John Galliano, who has been dismissed and facing trial in France in the wake of an anti-Semitic scandal, was felt at the show but the show must go on.
Mood at the show was sombre and muted but Galliano’s signature romantic Parisian flair was prominent on runaway.
Christian Dior Autumn/Winter 2011/12 show opened with Dior face Karlie Kloss striking a flamboyant “Three Musketeers” pose in dramatic floor-length-cape and velvet knickerbockers teamed with black hat and boots.
62 models took to the runway, one after the another flaunting John Gallioano Fall 2011 Collection giving glimpse of Galliano’s favorite themes.
Looks like velvets jackets worn over little, knee-length, frilly skirts; mink jackets with chiffon slips; “Little Bo Beep”-style smocks and ribbon-tied bloomers, tweedy jacket over faille short shorts, pink python tunic worn over a fuzzy plaid skirt, were chic.
Garments were based on color palette that was very autumn and included deep burgundy, gothic black and emerald greens Rounding up the Dior Fall 2011 show were models catwalking on runway in lingerie-inspired dresses.
They wore dreamy lingerie-look peignoir-dresses, evening-gowns in ruffled and pleated see-through chiffon. Making their look all the more stunning were skyscraper-heeled shoes, furnished with ribbons and bows.
Name of John Galliano’s successor has yet not revealed the finale of Christian Dior Fall 2011 runway show signaled the end of an era for Dior when the label’s design atelier took to the stage.
