Verdict is out!! Miss USA 2011 is Miss California Alyssa Campanella.

21-year-old auburn-haired California girl Alyssa Campanella was crowned Miss USA 2011 at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip on Sunday night. Leaving behind all other contestants at the annual beauty pageant, she managed to ultimately took home the title.

Natural blonde Alyssa, a former Miss Teen USA runner-up from 2007, strutted across the stage in a blue bikini with white polka dots for swimsuit round and a dark turquoise evening gown by Sherri Hill with beading on its top for evening gown competition and topped a field of 51 beauty queens.

Alyssa Campanella, who was born and raised in New Jersey was crowned Miss USA 2011 by Miss USA 2010 Rima Fakih, who was the first Arab-American to hold the title.

In final interview round, she was asked whether marijuana should be legalized in California and she replied:

“Well, I understand why that question would be asked, especially with today’s economy, but I also understand that medical marijuana is very important to help those who need it medically,” she said. “I’m not sure if it should be legalized, if it would really affect, with the drug war. I mean, it’s abused today, unfortunately, so that’s the only reason why I would kind of be a little bit against it, but medically it’s OK.”

During the event, Campanella almost fell when she tripped while parading in her evening gown.

Among last 5 contestants, Alyssa Campanella was named 2010 Miss USA, First runner-up was Miss Tennessee Ashley Durham, Miss Alabama was second runner-up, Miss Texas was third runner-up.

Miss California Alyssa Campanella will represent the United States in this year’s Miss Universe pageant on September 12 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Miss Universe 2010 was Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete.
