Carmen Marc Valvo, an American designer, specializes in evening-wear and high-end cocktail dresses for a line of the same name. Valvo’s professional career began as a RTW designer for Nina Ricci in Paris, followed by a stint at Christian Dior. He was ready to launch his own label, by 1989, with only a few thousand dollars, and pulled together a collection to show to department and specialty stores at fall market in New York. His sportswear collection was an instant success and was bought into several top stores. But it was his eveningwear, his true passion, that captured hearts of buyers at both Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus.
He also has a lingerie collection, an eyewear collection, a swimsuit-line- which is a best-seller at Victoria’s Secret, and most recently launched Hamptons-inspired home collection, called CMV Home sold through QVC. He will soon launch a collection of evening bags also. Valvo is known for his tailored fit, form-fitting dresses, and geniality towards full-figured women.
Valvo’s designs have graced many glamorous women such as HRH Princess Madeleine of Sweden, Queen Latifah, Beyoncé, Leona Lewis, Katie Couric, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Lucy Liu, Vanessa Williams, Kate Winslet, Mary J. Blige, and Eva Longoria Parker, to name a few. His elegant eveningwear is now a staple at Bloomingdales, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, and countless other specialty stores nationally and internationally.
