Currently residing in London, the famous British designer Caroline Charles was born in Cairo, Egypt, in 1943. She started her carrier working for couturier Michael Sherrard, and Mary Quant, Knightsbridge. She assisted fashion photographer Tony Rawlinson; returned to Mary Quant; and established own business in 1963.
In 1965 she was jetting around the world and the famous subject of headlines in U.S.A. as Americans loved her really fresh, “kinder, London ladylike-look,” and at the age of 22 she was feted by trend-hungry New York audiences. During these years she created wedding outfit for Ringo Starr, dressed Petula Clark, Madame George Pompidou, Barbra Streisand, Marianne Faithfull, Lulu, and Mick Jagger.
She moved to Beauchamp Place, in 1966; designed for a number of celebrities and musicians, in 1960s. She has also designed for British royalty, in the 1980s and opened a new store on Bond Street, London, in 90s.
