It was a a dramatic haute couture collection that sent models on runway in designs with punk reference, multicolored ‘Mohican’ wigs and high heels. Influence of can-can was visible in ruffles, frills and flounces.

Jean Paul Gaultier Spring Summer 2011 collection was eye-catching for number of reasons that include Joan Jett wigs, 3-D shades given to audience with one lens red and one green to see the 3-D prints in all their extraordinary glory, striking combat boots, heavy blue eye shadow and of course, Plus Size models on runway.

Opening the show were models clad in black lace, red leather and fishnet stockings followed with models donning jackets with squared off shoulders, nautical stripes, lace, chiffon, tiny frilled underwear. Palm leave printed pleated silks and floral prints also made their way on runway along with black sheer, lacy numbers completed with corsets, bigger knickers and pleated capes.

Celebrities came together for a good cause as gala benefits amfAR’s AIDS research programs. Kylie Minogue hosted amFAR 2010 event and was looking breathtakingly beautiful in JPG dress. Gaultier has created these wonderful 10cm plastic stiletto heels with amazing transparent aspect, which will really gave a elegant look when worn with finest fishnet tights. Well, these stilettos are adding a new charm to the beauty of Dita Von Teese and are just looking awesome!

The invitation was first clue we were in for a global melting pot at Jean Paul Gaultier. It pictured a mixed-up map of world, with Mexico next to Togo, Morocco abutting Russia, India and Greece side by side, and so on. And runway certainly delivered what the designer clued.

Another model sported a babushka, a Masai necklace, a leather motorcycle jacket, checked harem pants, a Mexican-blanket skirt, yellow stockings, red tennis socks, and green platform sandals.

Truly its was all about a journey around the world, sometimes including several countries in one outfit. What caught everybody’s attention throughout the show were the Headwears and shoes. There were turbans, Cossack hats and stiletto sandals with ”Grand” Vizier turn-up toes. They were absolutely gorgeous, truly attractive and outstanding.

Subtract the gimmicky shoes and costume hats and, as usual, there was a fantastic clothing line to wear on. The expertly cut Gaultier trench showed up in many different guises: shrunken and cropped at hip, cutaway at thighs in front and trailing a long hem, or in black with a kimono-silk lining.

At one end of colorful spectrum was a louche smoking jacket, and, at the other, cozy-chic knits and casually luxe furs.
