Milan Menswear Fashion Week 2011 kicked off with Italian designers duo, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s Dolce and Gabbana Spring 2011 Menswear Collection.

It was Birthday time of Dolce & Gabbana fashion brand. Dolce & Gabbana celebrated 20th anniversary of their menswear line during Milan Fashion Week 2011. Mood of show was set with live performance by singer Annie Lennox clad in gigantic black crinoline gown.

Among 53 Models who paraded on Dolce & Gabbana Menswear Spring 2011 show some were Tony Ward, Christian Monzon, Enrique Palacios, Tyson Ballou, Evandro Soldati, and David Gandy.

Talking about the collection, it was full of house’s classic signatures and pieces that evoked Dolce sensuality. Theme of the collection was “Sicilian Sensuality” and it was evident in relaxed tailoring, sportswear and knits in white, beige, chocolate and black color palette.

There were extra-light washed silk jackets and sweaters in woven jute inspired by Sicilian sensuality, seductive tank tops, slouchy knits, and distressed jeans loosely belted with rope along with blousons in leather mesh, unlined jackets in sand and ivory linen with corsair-style trousers. Adding to beauty of show were, Dolce and Gabbana tuxedos and models in black and white striped knit polos with matching shorts and Dolce and Gabbana tuxedos.

Not only the clothes flaunting Dolce and Gabbana mens fashion, whole vibe of show was very soothing and stylish. Among highlights were striped polo shirts, silken bathrobes, tiny shirt collars and ending of show.

Dolce and Gabbana Menswear Spring 2011 saw a stylish ending as boys gathered around piano for a final sing-along with Annie. In all, it was a Superb Show.

Dolce & Gabbana’s D&G diffusion line, this time came up with lot of snowflake sweater dresses, chiffon blouses and printed maxi dresses. Whole vibe of collection was very sporty. D&G designer fashion inspired by skiing was not limited to clothes only, it was shown on accessories as well.

Lot of glitter ski-goggles, huge boots and fox leg warmers gave impression as if models are getting ready for winter sports. Runway became warmer and warmer with each model stepping on it in chunky cable knits in burgundy and gray woven into bustier, short shorts and body suits.

Mountain scenes and Alpine slopes getting displayed on screen at stage conveyed a feel of Whistler kind of setting. There was nice amalgamation of snowflake sweaters, belted cardigans with sheer silk blouses and gently flowing skirts that gave a soft and girlish touch to collection.

Highlights of collection were sunglasses encrusted with rhinestones and floaty printed chiffon frocks, fur boots and belts used on every dress just like Just Cavalli Fall 2010 Collection.

Top look of collection was displayed by model Natasha Poly who came striding out in a red and white snowflake sweater bodysuit along with rhinestone covered goggles on her forehead and furry mukluks on feet. Gorgeous!!

Dolce Gabbana menswear collection was based on sharp and neat silhouettes with single-breasted jackets. There was a good contrast of chunky knits and work wear styles. Line up of T-shirts, waistcoats and vests were quite nicely accessorized with flat cap.

Models were flaunting great looks, wearing knits over trousers, narrowed at the bottom. It was all about black, white and grey line, against a screen backdrop showing scenes of ‘Baaria’. Yet again, designer duo has created same magic that was created by Dolce and Gabbana spring/summer 2010 blazer collection.

Whole look of Dolce and Gabbana Fall 2010 collection was soothing and really stylish with aromatic shades. White shirts tucked into jeans or black trousers was really sleek and was well presented with complementing boots and caps. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were inspired by ‘Baaria’, a big-budget, sentimental sweep through 20th century Sicily which is Dolce’s birthplace as well. After having a glance at John Galliano menswear diffusion line and Dolce & Gabbana show in Milan, it is quite clear that hopes of recovery in crisis-hit luxury sector will get a boost.

The collection did well too, with recapturing mannish tailoring and curvy Latin lingerie, café-curtain macramé dresses, see-through lace, and rose-patterned chintzes that were first put through their paces by likes of Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, and Naomi Campbell.

This time, clothes were aimed for a new generation with a South American style. Silk fringing on black lace dresses and spiffy suitings represented the denizens of a tango bar. The classic extremes of masculine and feminine illustrated in this collection was inspired by Domenico Dolce’s Sicilian childhood memories and all things he saw and learned in a household that centered on his father’s business as a tailor.

A part of his culture is Catholic, Southern Italian adoration of female form. He and Gabbana gave that full aperture by replacing their traditional finale of overblown ball gowns with girls in corsets.
