Previously shown in Milan, Pringle of Scotland has brought back to Britain for 25th anniversary of London Fashion Week, by its new American CEO, Mary-Adair Macaire.
Clare Waight Keller, the designer, went all out to remind audience that Pringle is a knitwear firm. Policy sounds good, but what does a knit collection look like for Spring? The answer was a mixture of chunky, open cable-knit cardigans; fine-gauge fit ‘n’ flare dresses; and evolution of multilevel ruffled short skirt cropping up in a lot of places this season.
Keller kept color to a minimum, with white, gray, and lemon. Two versions of “Tilda” dress made of satin, and complex straps crossing a bare back, came out at the end of show. Meanwhile, Swinton wore a white tuxedo and silver foil T-shirt from men’s line for the evening.
Academy award winner Tilda Swinton had been asked by Pringle to do a creative campaign for Spring/Summer 2010, in which she would be roaming in a Scottish castle, barefoot in evening gowns. Campaign is to be photographed and filmed by iconic art photographer, Ryan McGinley.
