Rather than glitz and slam-bam glam, there was a serene, organic quality at Carolina Herrera’s show. Inspired by Japanese basketry woven pieces and ancient Eastern culture, collection included dresses, skirts and gowns in stone, caramel and amber. All dresses were works of art, appearing to be loomed by hand.
In place of classic suitings, Herrera sent dressy shorts down her runway in a variety of cuts and fabrics, from a trim minimalist design to cuffed and pocketed shorts of suiting fabrics like linen jacquard. But it doesn’t mean we have forgot her astonishing classy gowns! Oh, they were so gorgeous. I’m surely gonna pick one or two from this collection.

Fabric textures, prints and accessories although were cued from ancient Eastern hand craft but designs were purely Herrera’s, showing her extreme expertise in women’s fashion.
Using a natural color palette of stone, ivory and beige, spiced with terracotta, rose, caramel, and gold, Herrera wove vests and jackets in silken raffia, created lattice-like bodices in linen jacquard, and cinched striped gazer dresses with intricately-woven leather belts.
